Course Overview

The Agroecology & Sustainable Land Management Programme equips participants with the ecological, social, and practical skills required to design resilient farming systems that work with nature while sustaining productivity and livelihoods.

The programme emphasises agroecology as both a science, a set of practices, and a socio-economic approach, integrating sustainable land management to address land degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, and food insecurity.

The course combines agroecological principles with soil and water conservation, landscape management, indigenous knowledge, and participatory approaches.

It aligns with Agenda 2063, the SDGs, FAO’s 10 Elements of Agroecology, the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), and national land and agriculture policies.

Participants gain practical experience in analysing farming systems, designing agroecological interventions, and developing land management plans that are environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially inclusive.
