The Biodiversity Conservation & Ecosystem Restoration Programme equips participants with the scientific, policy, and practical skills required to protect biodiversity, restore degraded ecosystems, and strengthen ecological resilience while supporting sustainable livelihoods and development.
The programme responds to accelerating biodiversity loss, land degradation, and ecosystem collapse driven by climate change, unsustainable land use, and resource exploitation.
The course integrates conservation biology, ecosystem restoration, and environmental governance, aligned with global and African frameworks such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, Agenda 2063, the SDGs, UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, UNCCD, and UNFCCC.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in biodiversity assessment, conservation planning, restoration design, and monitoring, enabling them to implement effective, inclusive, and scalable conservation and restoration initiatives.
